SPECIFIC TREATMENTS ON WALNUT GRAFTING IMPROVEMENT

Authors:   G. Zakinthinos, D. Rouskas
Abstract:
The patch-budding procedure were tried in Gustine cultivar at summer period after vegetation end and when the shoots lignification had completed. The "plates" of scion were used directly from mother plants. The "plates" were being passed through a "cover solutions" before the grafting. The aim of this work was the improvement of patch-budding procedure utilizing the summer grafting additional to spring application.

Were used six (6) "cover solutions" with the following composition:

(S1) Ascorbic acid (2 g/l)

(S2) Ascorbic acid (2 g/l) + Albumin (2 g/l)

(S3) PVP (4 g/l) + Albumin (2 g/l)

(S4) S3 solution + 20 ppm Benzyl-amino-purine

(S5) S3 solution + 60 ppm Benzyl-amino-purine

(S6) S3 solution + 80 ppm Benzyl-amino-purine

The treatments S4, S5 and S6 gave statistically signifying results in relative to (C), S1, S2 and S3 treatments. The treatment (S5) gave earlier callus formation and faster bud-breaking of graft than other (S4-S6) treatments.
